Details
Special Havana Tour is recommended to all the visitors that wish to know a little more about our capital city, its habits, traditions and you will be witness of the nighttime beauty of this city. Our journey begins in Varadero, it will last approximately 2 hours bordering the north coast of the country until we get to Havana and you will be able to enjoy another charming city, Matanzas, which has a spectacular bay.
During this tour you will visit the “Bacunayagua Bridge”, which is the tallest one in Cuba, where, if you desire it we can make a stop and enjoying the popular Cuban cocktail “Piña Colada” or simply you can observe the Yurumí Valley´s landscape.
Once back in the road you will be able to see among other things the Havana Club rum factory, the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric and the very beginning of the beaches of Eastern Havana.
The shortest way to enter into the capital city is crossing over the Tunnel of Havana, which is one of the seven wonders of the Cuban engineering. Once in the capital city and going through the “Malecón Avenue” (Sea Wall), you will have a panoramic view of La Fortaleza del Morro – Cabaña, the National Hotel, the Habana Libre Hotel, the Embassy of USA, the Riviera Hotel and The Melia Cohiba Hotel among other places of interest.
Our first stop will be done in the Plaza of the Revolution in order that you know this place and the famous buildings that surround it. Later we will make a little journey on foot or in the car, according to your preferences, by the so-called Paseo del Prado, and we will visit the Central Park, the Capitol, the Alicia Alonso National Theater, the Saratoga Hotel, the Bacardi Building and the Floridita that is considered the most famous bar in Havana. You will be able to have lunch in a food restaurant, if you want it that way.
In the afternoon we will visit Old Havana and its Historic Center, which has been declared as a humanity’s patrimony by UNESCO. This is the colonial part of the city and therefore the most ancient, but it is very well conserved. It is mainly composed by four colonial squares: la Plaza de Armas (the Arm’s Square), which is the first square that was built by Spain and the most important, la Plaza de la Catedral (the Cathedral’s Square), la Plaza Vieja (the Old Square) and la Plaza San Francisco de Asís (the Francisco of Asís´ Square).
Later you will be able to have a room in order to get some rest or for changing your clothes if you desire it, and finally to be witness of the very well-known ceremony of “El Cañonazo” (“The Cannon Shot”) in the Fortaleza de la Cabaña, in former colonial times the ceremony was carried out with the aim of closing the doors of the city. In order to continue that tradition, from that time, all these years we can listen to the shot of the cannons every day, exactly at 9 o’clock in the night in some areas of Havana.
